I believe your episode should air this coming weekend and next weekend.

It will simultaneously air in about 80 suburbs on the access channels in 
those areas. I don't have specifics for channel number and town - it's 
safe to say that unless someone lives far south or far west, if they're 
in a Chicago suburb, they should be able to see the show on their Access 
Channel (35 or 18).

Born and raised in the popular Chicago suburb of Maywood, Illinois,
rap duo Jay-El and Shalek can really relate to and bond with each 
other more than any of us can imagine.  They compliment each other’s
style more than any other group probably because of the simple fact 
that they are brothers.  Yeah they have their fights here and there,
but that’s only family disputes and eventually brotherly love conquers
all and they continue to tear up mics all over the Chi. Being strongly
influenced by their father, who was a musician and seemingly mastered
every instrument known to man, and musical family ties down in Alabama.
Their music can honestly be categorized as real and meaningful relating
to everyday life for the everyday fan.  In about 1998, Jay-El and Shalek
were your average set of brothers doing their own things, Jay-El rapping
and making music and Shalek’s similar love for rhyming but through 
poetry, when curiosity and the urge to work side by side brought their 
tastes together and that escalated into something more.  So for the 
past seven years, the duo feel that they have been following down the 
same path of Chi-Town’s own legend Kanye West.  Just like Mr. College 
Dropout himself, the team does music that is new and a lot more radical 
than most, but it leaves people with no other choice but to not only like
it but to love it too because its sooooooo different. Jay-El and Shalek
is getting their names known and don’t be surprised if you heard a lot 
more from them real soon.  As a matter of fact, Shalek’s solo album is 
about to be dropped in the coming months.  Now before we depart, let me 
ask you, what duo do you see just beyond the horizon preparing to do big
things?

Hi,  & George -

  I watched Lou's DVD copy of the Hi-Low video. This version is already
"cleaned up," which is OK with me (now that I see how many times I'd
have to bleep it, it's just as well)...

  My show has a distinct look and feel to it, which includes the overall
branding of how videos are identified. I have a specific font, color
scheme, animation, and method of showing album cover art which is
integral to how the show is put together.

  Also, be aware that I will have to cut the last few shots of the video
with the CD being shown or I won't be able to air it in Chicago.  Only
the suburbs get that version of the show... I make a version just for
Chicago without the album art. It's not my choice... Chicago is too big
a market for me to have the show pulled over artistic differences. The
'burbs allow it, so it's worth making two versions - I like the way
things look with the album art in the picture.

I received the DVD on Saturday.  I want you to know that I thought it
was very well done!  I was really impressed with the emotion, storyline,
and overall presentation of the song on video.  My children loved it and
I know that they are a very good gauge of what is good and what is junk.
I am so proud of George and you and the entire gang that had anything to
do with the development of this video.  When you put the whole thing
into perspective, we put together a first class video for under $1,000
on our very first attempt!  I am not aware of any other organization
that can even come close to those numbers.  I see this as being a very
useful tool to show our professionalism and to help advance Jay-El's &
SHI-LIEKS music!

Today I had the privilege of watching Jay-el and Sha-Leik’s art in motion.  
George McDowell and Conerstone Records Video, did a spectacular job recording 
a sure to be hit, “High-Low”.  I am very impressed with the video and audio 
quality, the wizardry of Mr. McDowell to put it all together, the location

I went to that stations site and as soon as I clicked on "enter now" 
Da EVILS started playing.  How cool to be plugged like that to every 
visitor looking for stuff about KVJM.  I had my show yesterday and 
couldn't find the copy of the CD I put in the station's library, so 
I had to play my own copy.  Some of the DJs misplaced it after they 
played it, so it may have gotten lost or accidentaly taken home.  
I'll burn a new copy and put it back in the racks though.  In a way, 
it's good news that I couldn't find the CD, because that suggests 
it was getting airplay.

 Hey, it's been almost a week since I met you at the Tiger Mart in
Nashville where you were handing out promo copies of that D.A.E.V.I.L.S.
CD.  I gave it a listen and liked what I heard, so I started playing it
on my radio show each Friday during the morning drive.  My rap knowledge
is pretty limited, so I mixed it up from my normal format (oldschool
punk, hardcore, indie) and played your tracks along with Slick Rick, Mr.
Magic, The Roots, and Outkast from 1996.  Several people called in about
your track, so if a show that doesn't normall play rap can generate a
little buzz, it's definitely some good shit.  I marked the CD for
rotation and went to the most popular rap show on the station to give
them the CD.  The show is called Blazin' in Da Boro and plays Wednesdays
during rush-hour, so you can expect an even bigger buzz from the other
shows that play it.  Keep it up

That's great news George! I always knew Conerstone was going to make it. 
It was just a matter of time. Keep up the good work and at the end, it 
was all pay off. Tell J-EL and the group hi for me.

On another note, a few weeks back after work I passed a guy walking a 
ways down from the office. It looked like you but this guy appeared to 
be letting his hair grow out. Was that you? Until next time, have a great

How are you doing? How is your son?!? I hope all is well there in Houston
for you! All is good out here. I am still working at Caltrans and still
in with ya. I have been keeping low with my little girl and family.

I have been keeping in touch with Rob Nonies at Tower of Records. We are
waiting for the new CD. I would like to give Rob first shot at listening
to the CD once it is done. If he likes it he will buy about 3000 units and
will expose Jay-El to 12 of the biggest markets in the US. However, I
would like Rob to set the release date if that is okay with you. I am
rather confident that we will be able to get Coop. money if Rob picks this
one up.

How do the tracks sound? When do you think a CD will be ready? It doesn't
have to be perfect, as a matter of fact we don't even need to have the art
work done for the cover or the one-sheet. If the music is good, Rob will
let us know and once we get his commitment, we can have the art work done
then.

On a second note...I was in Sacto. yesterday and two of my contacts let me
know that there is a family of brothers that are putting out incredibly
fresh vibes. However, I understand that there lyrics are not the best. I
am going to check them out next week when I am back up in Sacto. What I am
thinking is this, if they are as good as everyone claims, I would like to
get them on the Conerstone label. I am sure I can do it with no money
down. Let's take their beat and get someone else to put lyrics to it. If
these guys can sing, then we can let them do it, otherwise we may need to
find new vocals as well. What do you think? I can probably get you a
sample of their music.

Everything is going ok on this end. I'm going to check with Follett

Most everyone is out of our home office in LA for the national convention

George I went to Wearhouse Music today found out that they do not do c
d's
on consignment but get there c d's through their distributors. Did however
find out that their distrubutors are Gonzales Music Wholesales Valley
and
Bassin. Had Mgr to check bar code to see if our c d was in their system ,
did not find it listed. also need to know if the list price on the c d
the price that I use when entering the stores.Waiting to here from you.

Incredible! I loved the new CD! I could definitely tell that some fine
tuning occurred since the last recording. I also appreciated Jay-El
throwing in a thanks to us out here in California during the Outro! This
CD is really good! By the way, my new daughters (Melanie 6yrs. and
Stephanie 5yrs. both love the music)!! It is so cute to see them dance to
the beat with big huge smiles on their faces! They try and repeat what
Jay-El's lyrics but can't quite understand him, so they just pretend to
know what he is saying...I will get it on video for you!! It is precious!

Yesterday I met with Tavius Dyer here in San Jose. Tavius, who features a
weekly radio spot with 103.3 KCSU has agreed to play Jay-El. 103.3 is an
"underground" broadcast so the format is not restricted. Their broadcast
is primarily within the San Jose & south bay area and Tavius estimates
approximately 80,000 listeners. Tavius has contacts with two other
stations and has agreed to promote Jay-El with them also. He believes that
we will eventually have Jay-El on all three stations.

I am working with mainstream stations to get the commercial spot going.
The following major marketing bases that I am focusing on right now are:
Sacramento, San Francisco/Berkley and San Jose. I will continue to keep
you posted on our progress out here in California!!

This is inspirational. It gives me so many ideas for simplification of

the tour management. We probably ought to consider sponsorship by

hotel chains travel agencies and large restaurant chains to lower travel

expenses. This can be done by offering publicity at the performances

and during media interviews with artists. By doing this these potential

sponsors can provide travel and other incidentals that the entourage
